Sonoma Retreat had good points

Our stay at the Sonoma Retreat in a Honeymoon Suite was mostly positive. The tent was very well-appointed and felt luxurious, and the vineyard views were incredible. Booking was easy, and staff were friendly when we checked in. We tried the Culinary Journeys experience, which was a highlight – the food and wine pairings were excellent. My only minor critique is that getting around the property without a golf cart felt a bit far sometimes, especially after dinner. Also, the cost for extra activities like yoga was a little higher than I anticipated. Good value overall for the experience, but could improve on accessibility within the site.

Governors Island stay was great

I booked a Summit Tent at the Governors Island Retreat for a weekend getaway. The booking process on their website was straightforward, and I received a confirmation email immediately. Arrival instructions were clear, including ferry details. The tent itself was spacious and the bed very comfortable, exactly as described online. The private bathroom was a huge plus. We enjoyed a Farm-to-Table Dinner one night; the food was fresh and delicious, though a bit pricey. Service was attentive throughout our stay. Check-out was smooth. My only minor note is that the wifi in the tent was a little spotty at times, but overall, a very relaxing and unique experience.

Yellowstone trip was so nice

Just got back from the Yellowstone Retreat and it was awesome. We stayed in an Outlook Shelter and it was way more comfortable than I expected for 'glamping.' The views were just insane from our tent. We did one of the Guided Hikes they offered and our guide was super knowledgeable, really made the park come alive. The S'mores Kits they give you are a nice touch for the fire pit. It felt like camping but without all the hassle, which is exactly what I was looking for. Definitely a cool experience.

Good Vail Retreat, nice tent

Stayed in a Journey Tent at Vail. Easy booking online. Tent was clean and comfortable. Breakfast in tent was convenient. Location was beautiful. No complaints, worth it.

Hey, I saw an ad for 10-15% off if I sign up for emails. Does that actually work, or is it just for specific dates?

K Katie H. 5 days ago
Yeah, it usually works! I got a code for like 10% off my first booking after signing up for their newsletter. It's usually a unique code sent to your email.

It's legit. I think it's mostly a first-time guest kind of deal, not necessarily tied to specific dates, but you can only use it once. They also do seasonal sales though for bigger discounts sometimes.

How does Collective Retreats compare to like, Under Canvas or AutoCamp? Looking for a good glamping spot this summer.

T Thomas Robinson 1 week ago
Collective is generally more luxury focused than Under Canvas, especially with the culinary stuff and overall service level. AutoCamp is cool too but has a different vibe with the Airstreams. Collective feels a bit more bespoke, if that makes sense.

They're all good, but I'd say Collective is a step up in terms of amenities and personal touches. Under Canvas is solid but feels a bit more 'chain' sometimes. Collective feels more like a boutique hotel experience but in tents.

Thinking of booking Governors Island for a weekend. How do you actually get there?

J Justin H. 4 weeks ago
Super easy. Just take the ferry from Manhattan, it drops you right there. Collective usually has golf carts waiting.

Yeah, the ferry is the main way. Check their site for the ferry schedule, it can change seasonally. Don't miss the last one!

Are the tents actually legit glamping or is it more like glorified camping? Like, do they have real bathrooms inside?

J Jessica M. 1 month ago
It's definitely glamping, way nicer than camping. I stayed in a Summit Tent and it had a proper en suite bathroom with a flush toilet and shower. Pretty luxurious for a tent!

Most of the tents, especially the higher-end ones, have private bathrooms. Some of the simpler ones might have shared facilities nearby, but even those are usually pretty nice and clean. It's not roughing it by any means.
